Hugh Sheehy, BE, MBA

Hugh was originally a Mechanical Engineer, working in the offshore oil industry; first as an Explosion Protection Engineer, later as a Deepwater Subsea Project Engineer. This was foundational to his approach: don't say what you don't know; mean what you say. No bluffing. No spin.

He worked offshore mostly in the North Sea, but also off West Africa and in the Gulf of Mexico, and was responsible for budgets in excess of $500 million. Later he worked in research and has several oil industry patents.

After resigning to do an MBA at INSEAD (one of the world's top business schools, where he graduated in the top few %), Hugh moved to Spain where he lived for nearly a decade, working mostly in strategy consulting in the telco space, around B2B network sales and mobile operator rollouts. He also worked at HP on a range of new mobile products and founded an over-the-top mobile messaging application several years before WhatsApp.

A return to Ireland saw him work at Google for several years, where he led a number of international teams and a major global project, driving hundreds of millions in incremental revenue.

After a further role with a US software company, Hugh moved into interim executive positions and led major system migrations and integrations in finance (BNP Paribas) and energy (ESB Energy), before his recent role as CEO of Go Eve.

Hugh has spent his career working at the leading—and sometimes bleeding—edge across industries around the world. That experience has taught him the difference between sound execution and wishful thinking, and between manageable risk and avoidable failure. Combined with his restless energy, it is what he brings to clients attempting something new and difficult.
